Joel loves to workout, stay fit and live a healthy life. That’s why he has taken a holistic approach to sports and fitness. Joel believes elite athletes must train hard, eat the proper nutrition, and be intentional about developing their spiritual muscle.
With dedication, athletes can grow stronger but without the proper spiritual disciplines, they will waste away inwardly. Joel believes when our life is aligned with God’s principles for living, we will thrive.
Joel has a Doctorate in Education from Southeastern University (ABD, 2018), a Master of Arts degree in Intercultural Studies from Fuller Theological Seminary (2010) and Bachelor of Arts degree in religion from Vanguard University (2007). He is also an Ordained Minister with the Assemblies of God.
He has traveled extensively, lived on three continents and is fluent in two languages. Currently, Joel’s missional call is being lived out in Southern California as a pastor, college professor, and head coach of tennis at Oaks Christian High School. Joel’s love for people and sports have merged to form a unique missional platform that allows him to train athletes and help them integrate their faith in the athletic context.
